WEEKLY Events:

Exercise class – Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays at 9 a.m. Michele Gallant leads senior chair and balance class on Mondays and Wednesdays, beginning on January 12. -Cost $6. Work out with others to an exercise class on the big screen on Fridays ($1). No need to register – just drop in! 

Coffee Club – Mondays and Fridays at 10 a.m. Open to all – Admission by donation of treats or coins.

Tuesday, January 27, at 1 p.m. - Air Fryers -Join home economist Margaret Prouse for a presentation on cooking with an air fryer. Free for Miltonvale Park residents aged 55+, and by donation for others. Funded in part by the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program. REGISTRATION NOW OPEN - Saturday, January 31 - Food Hampers - Milton Community Hall - 10 a.m. -12 noon. With funding from the Island Community Food Security Program from the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership and the Government of Canada and Province of PEI, the Rural Municipality of Miltonvale Park is providing food boxes for residents. As the number of food boxes is limited, we hope that we will reach people for whom this will make a difference. Miltonvale Park residents will have priority. STORM DATE, if required, will be Sunday, Feb. 1, from 10-11 a.m. ONE application per household. If you need to register a second household, please contact admin@miltonvalepark.com. Monday, February 2 at 7 p.m. - Milton Community Hall Annual Meeting, The non-profit Milton Community Hall belongs to all adult residents of Miltonvale Park. Are you interested in becoming more involved in the hall? The AGM includes highlights and financial reports from the 2025 year, as well as elections for the 2026 Board of Directors. In this introductory Rug Hooking session, experience the magic of rug hooking and why so many get Hooked on Hooking. The project will be a 6"x 6" hand-held meditation mat.  In the first session (3 hrs) learn the basics, outlining, filling, changing colors and textures as well as how to personalize your piece of Peace. In the second session (2 hrs), we will finish hooking, cover different finishing techniques and perspective future projects. There will also be hooking handouts available for future reference. Saturdays, February 7, 14 and 21 at 1 p.m.  “Let’s Jest Play” … Come have some fun! Join local actor and Bouffon-ery artist Trilby Jeeves for some fun and play. Demystify the acting process. Escape the nuttiness of the world, and be nutty in a room with friends! Get to know you and your neighbours through play!!  Funded in part by the Government of Canada through the New Horizons for Seniors Program. Sunday, February 8 from 9-11:00 a.m. Miltonvale Park Community Pancake Breakfast. FREE for Miltonvale Park residents. Thursday, February 12 - Seniors Supper Club. The Chat & GBT (Growing Better Together) Project is hosting another Supper Club. These are meals for about 40 Miltonvale Park seniors, as well as meal deliveries to shut-ins in Miltonvale Park. REGISTRATION IS NOT YET OPEN. Watch for details.

Saturday, February 14 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. – Cookbook Launch and Cooking with Love workshop. Celebrate Valentine’s Day with our first-ever “Cooking with Love” workshop, hosted by Parry Aftab—founder of PEI Good Eats and Co-Chair of PEI Food Strong! We’re starting with “top your own butter tarts” where attendees can choose from lots of traditional or “just for fun” toppings for their own butter tarts. We’ll use Lori MacAulay’s amazing butter tart filling (viewed more than 500,000 times on PEI Good Eats!!!) which is featured in the cookbook! Parry and a few home cooks featured in the cookbook will be there. Cookbooks will be on sale, with a savings of $5 (one per attendee limit, cash or e-transfer only). TO BE CONFIRMED - for 4 weeks- Wednesday, Feb. 18, from 1:00-3:00 pm  – Zentangle Classes 1-3 p.m. Let’s Tangle with Carol,  CZT 42   Zentangle is a meditative practice - Yoga with a pen. While the finished work appears complicated, once one learns the basics, it can become a relaxing, portable pastime.  It is available to anyone who can draw these simple letters/lines:  c i s o

This session is suitable for beginner and intermediate tanglers alike. Bring a notebook, an open mind and your sense of humour. Kits provided that include micron pens, pencil, blending stub, eraser, pencil sharpener, step out sheets and tiles of various sizes and content for tangling.

Wednesday, February 25 - Municipal Budget Meeting and Presentation 7:30 p.m. Storm date: Monday, March 2 at 7:30 p.m. View the draft Miltonvale Park Municipal Budget for the 2026-27 year. All residents are welcome to attend, for a short review of 2025-26 and a presentation of operating and capital budgets for next fiscal year. The budget is expected to be approved at the Wednesday, March 18th, 7 p.m. Council meeting. Please register at admin@miltonvalepark.com. Council hopes to circulate a questionnaire to hear resident suggestions and concerns, but feel free to email ideas to admin@miltonvalepark.com.

Friday, March 6 1:00-4:00 p.m.- Pysanky workshop with Linda. Pysanky is an ancient Eastern European art of egg decoration where a stylus is used to write in wax on an eggshell. Come experience this meditative and beautiful craft. $10 and Priority registration is given to Miltonvale Park residents by providing a civic address.. $15 for everyone else (subject to availability). Saturday, March 7, 4:00-5:00 p.m. Come Try Belly Dance for beginners. Learn to use dance for cultural connection, physical well-being, and emotional expression with Alika, an experienced dancing teacher from Mexico and Canada, to Egypt. NEW Saturday, April  11 at 6:30 p.m. - Fascinating Ladies of Country is a celebratory musical revue, featuring music from some of the most iconic and influential female country artists of the last century to present day. Presented by the Young at Heart Theatre. The show also highlights the women’s liberation movement and the way these artists expressed themselves to help empower women around the world.

Some of the songs featured include 9 to 5, Delta Dawn, Fancy, Any Man of Mine and Miss Chatelaine. The show is written, compiled and directed by Catherine O’Brien with musical direction and arrangements by Brielle Ansems. The cast features talented PEI artists Olivia Blacquiere, Stephanie Ross and Haley Zavo. Watch for details re tickets!  P.S. Sunset is about 7:55 p.m!! 

 

NOTES:

 Miltonvale Community Park – The park closed for the winter, but will be checked sporadically. If you are there and notice it needs attention, please contact admin@miltonvalepark.com, 902-368-3090 or 902-213-0597. The walking trail and parking lot have recently been paved. Please do not drive vehicles on the paved trail. An accessible drum set was recently installed near the park entrance - check it out on the next fine day!  On January 1, someone found an airpod case with one airpod, and left it on a picnic table under the shelter veranda (it is still there!). 

Miltonvale Park Child Bursary - Residents, are you signing your children up for activities, classes, and lessons? Residents are entitled to $75/child/year  (April 1- March 31) to reimburse costs of extracurricular activities.  https://miltonvalepark.com/for-residents/rebates-forms/

Snowshoes - The municipality has 6 pairs of adult snowshoes and poles and NEW! three pairs of youth snowshoes to borrow. Contact admin@miltonvalepark or 902-368-3090 to make arrangements to borrow them.

The local 4-H Clubs still have some reversible cat and dog bandanas at the hall. $5

Reminder - There are books and puzzles to borrow in the lobby at the Milton Community Hall. 

Food hampers - The municipality will be hosting several food box giveaways. If you have extra grocery bags - the firm kind that stand up on their own, that are clean and in good shape, we would love to have them dropped off at the hall, and that will help us stretch our food dollars!

Municipal Elections - November 2, 2026  - The PEI Coalition for Women's Leadership (CWL) is offering a Municipal Training Series aiming to develop capacity in municipal politics across PEI. The Municipal Training Series will be a cohort series of six workshops, focused on supporting individuals who intend to get involved in municipal politics. The sessions will be open to members of the public who want to run for elected positions, as well as people who want to support someone else’s campaign. The aim is to demystify politics and reduce barriers to participation, recognizing that knowledge will promote political participation and strengthen our Island. February is Taking Care of  Business - Period Month with the PEI Women’s Institutes, who collect feminine hygiene products to donate to local food banks. There will be a drop- off box at the Milton Community Hall for the month of February, for any donations you would like to contribute.

The Milton Community Hall is an Emergency Warming Center, so can usually be opened in inclement weather (depending on bookings). There are events planned this weekend - but the upstairs can likely be available if there are power outages which make your home too cold! To be sure it is open before setting out -call 902-566-3154 (hall) or 903-368-3090 (municipality) or check Facebook.
