Monday 6-9 pm open play

6-8 pm beginner program (may already have a waiting list)

Times may be adjusted, if necessary, and some times may not start until later in the summer.
Rates are $30 membership which covers all play times for this year ($5 going to PEI pickleball organization) OR drop in fee of $2. Membership in Pickleball Canada is required. There are washrooms on site. Players can bring their own water, chair, bug spray, and sanitizer. If you can volunteer for the evening open play times, or have questions, please contact Ernie at colesernie@bellaliant.net.

Maximum - $10/household. No dabbers required – Reusable cards will be used. Space is limited, so priority will be for residents who book for the next week. ParticipACTION – Community Better Challenge will take place all through June -Miltonvale Park will be competing again this year in the Community Better Challenge. Last year we were in the top 3 municipalities in PEI. We ordered three disk golf baskets for use at the park, and summer student Luke Doiron will be coordinating another virtual walk to Milton in Louisana, and a Mayor’s Challenge. Details will follow as events take place in June. To get ready, we are asking residents to download the ParticipACTION app on your phones, as that should automatically count your activity in the municipal contest.
Wednesday June 1 is the next Year of Canada Food Presentation at 1:00 p.m. Margaret Prouse will be sharing recipes and tastes of food from Alberta, so the focus will be beef. Space is limited. The PEI Mutual Festival of Small Halls returns to the Milton Community Hall on Saturday evening, June 18 with its show – A Milton Mixer. Tickets are $30. It’s Juno award-winners on stage in Milton with the commanding vocals of Dene singer/songwriter Leela Gilday, joined by brother Jay Gilday, together as ‘Sechile Sedare’, along with the toe-tapping trad of string quartet The Fretless. The Biciborne (Bicycle Repair Station) is located adjacent to the Confederation Trail off the North York River Road, near the parking lot – and has lots of tools and a pump if you need to get your bicycle ready for the season!

Jubilee Teas -The Milton Community Hall received funding from Heritage Canada and is planning to hold three Platinum Jubilee Teas on Monday evening, July 25, Sunday, August & and Saturday, September 17. We are still working on details – but if you are a royal fan, and would like to be involved with a display, photos or information you may have acquired to help us celebrate the Queen’s 70 years on the throne, please contact miltoncommunityhall@gmail.com.

Covid rapid test kits that can be taken home are now available at the Milton Community Hall, as are some KN95 masks. These are available through a Red Cross Stop the Spread program. There are also some supplies in the food cupboard that folks are welcome to take and lots of books and puzzles to borrow in the hall entry.
Thanks to all who supported the Hall’s annual lobster supper last weekend – and to all the great volunteers who helped get everything ready for the 265 suppers that were served.

NEW Congratulations to Municipal Councillor Lindsey Rhynes who is graduating from UPEI today with her BA in Sociology. She was also the recipient of a PEI’s Famous Five Graduating Student Award. Congratulations Lindsey!

UPDATED -Monday, May 9 was the annual blanket tying activity to mark Family Violence Prevention Week. There are still blankets available to tie, if anyone is interested in dropping by the hall to do so(with a friend is more fun!). UPDATED -The Milton Community Hall annual Lobster Takeout Meal is now sold out. If you were able to get a ticket, pick-up is 2:30-4 pm on Saturday, May 14, 2022. You may want to bring a bag (or two) for your meal (still working on packaging plans .. but our hoarded supply of plastic bags we purchased before the ban is running out!)
Saturday May 14 is also the annual WI Roadside Clean Up. The yellow WI Roadside clean up bags were dropped off to the Miltonvale Park welcome signboards (Old Rte 2/Crabbe Road, Milton Community Hall and North York River Road) and at the Milton Convenience Store and the Little Free Library at the Community Park at 413 Sleepy Hollow Road. There are more at the Milton Community Hall. Bags can be left roadside anytime before Sunday, May 15. Do not put them in your black waste cart, or the cart will not be collected. You can also use clear plastic bags.

IWMC – Reminder that the week of May 9 is “big” waste collection week for IWMC. Items should be placed at the end of your driveway by Monday at 7 a.m. as collection does not necessarily occur on your regular garbage day. The week of May 16th yard waste will be collected.

Milton Hall Summer Manager
Become familiar with hall policies and procedures.
- Update social media and website.
- Consult with board, residents and hall users to develop and carry out programming that will meet community needs while meeting requirements of the Public Health Office, if necessary.
- Light maintenance - cleaning and painting, planting, watering flowers, grass cutting.
- Shopping
- Scheduling.
- Promotion of hall.
- Assist with the preparation of funding applications and reports.
- Formalizing policies and procedures.
- Compilation of recipes and menus for possible catering.
- Inventory and organize hall equipment.
- Booking and coordination of hall events and programs.
- Assist with community events, including Canada Day, Platinum Jubilee events (teas and concert), yard sale.
This position is funded through the Post Secondary Student Program.
Eligible students must:
• Have graduated from Grade 12; and/or
• Have attended a post-secondary institution full-time in the current year and intend to return to full-time studies in the fall of the current year;
• Be a resident of Prince Edward Island and legally authorized to work in Canada.

The PEI Seniors Secretariat has funding available for seniors programming/activities supports. The deadline for applications is May 11. Council would be interested in hearing of any suggestions that residents may have:
• Projects which promote positive images of aging
• Projects which reduce the social isolation of seniors
• Home First/Age in Place Projects
• Financial security and safety
• Projects that support Age-friendly initiatives
The hall is planning to apply for a car maintenance session, computer classes, several seniors dance events (dateless prom, Christmas dance, Halloween sockhop) and three lunch and learns, including genealogy, memoirs and e-books.

IWMC - Reminder that the week of May 9 is “big” waste collection week for IWMC. Items should be placed at the end of your driveway by Monday at 7 a.m. as collection does not necessarily occur on your regular garbage day. The week of May 16th yard waste will be collected.

Dr. Michael van den Heuvel from UPEI is tentatively scheduled for a presentation on Coles Creek, and the effects on water levels and fish habitat that he has been studying over the past few years (since the Charlottetown wellfield was established) at a meeting via Zoom and at the Milton Community Hall on 6:30 Wednesday evening, May 11. The Milton Community Hall is holding their annual Lobster Takeout Meal with a 1 lb. lobster (cracked in shell), salads, roll and dessert on Saturday, May 14, 2022.
Pick-up is 2:30-4 pm at the hall or local delivery can be arranged.
Tickets are $25 and must be purchased in advance.

The Biciborne (Bicycle Repair Station) has been uncovered after the winter. It is located adjacent to the Confederation Trail off the North York River Road, near the parking lot – and has lots of tools and a pump if you need to get your bicycle ready for the season!

The PEI Seniors Secretariat has funding available for seniors programming/activities supports. The deadline for applications is May 11. Council and the hall would be interested in hearing of any suggestions that residents may have:
• Projects which promote positive images of aging
• Projects which reduce the social isolation of seniors
• Home First/Age in Place Projects
• Financial security and safety
• Projects that support Age-friendly initiatives
Covid rapid tests are also available at the Milton Community Hall. There are a limited number that can be taken home, (we hope to have more available for distribution soon), but tests can be done onsite. These are available through a Red Cross Stop the Spread program.

Seniors fitness classes ($5) are held Mondays and Fridays at 9 a.m. (None on Good Friday or Easter Monday) followed by Coffee (not Good Friday -but there will be Coffee Easter Monday) at 10 a.m.
There has been a change to the yoga schedule and pricing. On Tuesdays the municipality is hosting $5 yoga – on the mat at 9 a.m. and from the chair at 10:30.a.m. On Thursdays Light Living with Leone will be hosting mat yoga at 9 am. and chair yoga at 10:30. upstairs. Drop-in fees are $10 or $32 for 4 classes.

As of Monday, Vax Passes will no longer be required for events at the Milton Community Hall. Masks are still required for all activities at the hall.
Michele’s Chair and Balance Fitness Classes take place on Mondays and Fridays at 9 a.m. Cost is $5 -and they are available online or in-person at the Milton Hall. The Rural Municipality of Miltonvale Park is hosting its annual Budget Meeting on TUESDAY, March 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the Milton Community Hall to present a draft budget to residents and landowners. Council will vote on the budget at their regular meeting on Wednesday, March 16 at 7:30, and there will be two weeks after the meeting and after the information is posted to send along comments or questions. We are looking for music, singing, skits, dance, and displays of arts and crafts and the show can be a mix of live and virtual performances. The North Milton WI is collecting period products for Food Banks at the Milton Hall until Monday for the WI Taking Care of Women's Business! Period. 28 Day Campaign. FYI Murphy's Pharmacy will be collecting and matching with their Atoma brand donations that are made at their stores, as well.
The hall also has Covid rapid tests available. The tests from the Red Cross “Stop the Spread” are optional, but if used, they must be taken at the hall (as results must be reported to Red Cross) and are only for adults without symptoms. There are a limited number of rapid tests from another source available to be used off-site.
