ParticipACTION Results and Upcoming Events -July 22
Published on Jul 22, 2025
Easier-to-read version https://miltonvalepark.com/participaction-win-and-upcoming-events-july-22-2025/
Municipality of Miltonvale Park is PEI’s Most Active Community!
Miltonvale Park wins funds after residents and organizations got active throughout June during the 2025 ParticipACTION Community Challenge presented by Novo Nordisk
July 22, 2025 – The sixth edition of the ParticipACTION Community Challenge, a national physical activity and sport initiative that encourages everyone to get active throughout June, ended with the Rural Municipality of Miltonvale Park earning the title of PEI’s Most Active Community and winning funds to support local physical activity and sport initiatives.
Mayor Hal Parker notes, “I am extremely proud that Miltonvale Park has been named a winner of the ParticipACTION Community Challenge. Miltonvale Park residents and friends have worked and played very hard in June to reach this goal. I love to see the connections people make as they exercise and move together. We have been a finalist three times in the last four years, so we are delighted to finally come out on top! We may be a small municipality, but we are a very active one, and we will continue to be active year-round.”
Many local organizations, including the Pickleball Club, North Milton Women’s Institute, Milton Community Hall, and the Wheatley River 4-H Club, registered and held 21 events. The municipality also hosted many activities, including line dancing, hip hop, waltz, and chair step dance classes, a learn to play pickleball class, pole walking lessons, yoga, fitness, and gardening sessions. Miltonvale Park hosted a virtual walk to Mt. Milton BC, and surpassed the 5270km journey by more than 1350 km. A “ Move More than the Mayor” contest, saw three residents walk more than Mayor Parker’s 330 kilometers in June.
The municipality’s plans for the $15,000 prize are not yet known. The municipality is hoping to develop Active Transportation Trails, invest in more upgrades to the community park, or expand its current fitness programs. Miltonvale Park will be planning a ParticipACTION Party in the Park to celebrate this win, and will release details as they become available.
Special thanks to all those residents and neighbours who took part, and to Zach Addison, who was the staff person with responsibility for the Community Challenge!

Published on Jun 22, 2025
An easier-to-read version with links is available online on Miltonvale Park's website.
June – ParticipACTION Community Challenge continues until June 30. Miltonvale Park is currently 1st place in PEI ($15,000 prize!!) and we would love to win this year! Follow along on the leaderboard! https://www.participaction.com/programs/community-challenge/#leaderboards
If you haven’t already - please sign up to be more active this June.
https://www.participaction.com/individual-pledge/ They ask your first name, email address, and postal code. Please use a postal code from Miltonvale Park - such as C1E 0S7. Winsloe (Charlottetown!) and Hampshire PO boxes and postal codes would put you on another team -not ours!! (There is no further tracking or reporting required from ParticipACTION). You do have to agree to receive their emails, but can unsubscribe later if you do not find them valuable.
Organization can also register their events -so the municipality track the numbers attending events, and other groups can also report on events (e.g. The Milton Hall Line Dancers, the North Milton WI beach walks, Miltonvale Park Pickleball) - reporting is really easy- so if you have an active group/business -it is not too late to sign up here and report
Miltonvale Park is hosting two virtual events that require reporting to us if you would like to take part - a virtual walk to Mount Milton in BC, and a Walk More than the Mayor contest… You can report your steps or activity when it suits you - on this form.https://forms.gle/rQLfevkzQC5cqLVG7
We need to report in by June 30 - so please report by June 29 and estimate your steps for the 30, if possible. The last I heard we were in Quebec, but if folks can check their pedometers/smart phones and send in steps, or you can also report activities - eg June 1-20 - 8 hours gardening, 4 hours push mower, 5 hours exercise classes. that might help us get to BC! Reach out to Zach at miltonvalepark.staff@gmail.com. if you have any questions or problems reporting.
