Song Portraits Band: Alicia Toner, Carlie Howell (Musical Director), Josh Langille, and Mike Ross. The live performance was part of the Radiant Rural Halls project hosted by this town is small.

Fathers of Confederation Car Show – Miltonvale Park is hosting a PEI 150 event at CMP (2744 North York River Rd.) on Saturday June 17 from 12-4. Canteen available. Registration of cars -$5 at 11 a.m. and general admission by donation, if desired, to the Upper Room Food Bank. Funded in part by Innovation PEI & the Province of PEI. Rain Date June 24.

Canada Day at the Miltonvale Community Park -Saturday July 1 11:30-2:30 p.m. Come join friends and neighbours to celebrate a special PEI 150 Canada Day, with BBQ, Canada Day Cake and fun and games! Funded in part by Innovation PEI and the Department of Canadian Heritage. Rain location -Milton Community Hall.

The hall and council will also be hiring summer students - if you might be interested in working close to home – at the hall, or at the Community Park, please contact the Council or the hall for details!

There are several small plots available at the Community Park (413 Sleepy Hollow Road) - please let me know if you would like to garden there this summer!

Watch for the launch of the Milton Community Hall's new "Milton Community Hall's MVP - Most Valuable People" project. A coordinator has been hired for this project funded by the PEI Alliance for Mental Well-Being and work is getting underway!

If you still have large Fiona debris (like tree branches) on your property - just a reminder, to get it moved near the curb for pick-up by the province. Curbside pick-up will run until June 30.

Provincial crews can only pick up curbside debris from private residences, such as homes, cottages, etc. Pick-ups will also occur on private roads, as long as it’s debris from homes and cottages.

Debris will not be picked from businesses, vacant lots or private woodlots.

This large debris pick-up is in addition to the regular Island-wide spring clean-up by IWMC so consult IWMC’s schedule for guidance on the removal of grass, leaves and smaller debris.

This week is Emergency Preparedness Week on PEI - The Province will be hosting emergency preparedness presentations open to members of the public on Thursday May 11th 1pm-3pm – Charlottetown Library Learning Centre (100-97 Queen Street, Charlottetown PE). The event will include a public presentation, static display of a personal emergency preparedness kit and various door prizes, including an emergency radio. The Milton Community Hall is hosting Computer Classes with Andy Gallant on Monday evenings (7p.m) in February 13th, March 6th & 20th. These are funded through the PEI Seniors Secretariat.           Understanding how computers work - and what exactly is the "Cloud"? - this will be a "How Stuff Works" type           course where we'll review larger overall concepts of computer/programs to give participants a general idea of           what's going on behind the scenes when they're running a computer program, using a web service, etc.

          Basic photo editing. Backing up your computer/smartphone. (It would be helpful to know ahead if participants           generally use Apple or Android mobile devices).

Public Budget Meeting for the Rural Municipality of Miltonvale Park - Wednesday, February 22, 2023 -7:00 p.m.  at the Milton Community Hall. Storm date – Thursday, Feb 23. Thanks to those who braved the cold to help with and delivered food boxes on the weekend. The hall was limited in how much we could store for a long time – so appreciate all those who we saw on Saturday (and really want to extend our apologies to those who got stuck in laneways trying to get here…. Sorry!). The cold and wind lasted much longer than we were hoping.

It is free for residents and by donation for others. This is part of the Year of Canada project, funded by the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program. The next food presentation will be Thursday, February 9 at 1 p.m. and will feature food from the NWT and Nunavut.

Miltonvale Park is holding a sign painting afternoon with Red Island Handcrafted on Friday, January 27 from 2-4 p.m. For Miltonvale Park Residents age 55+, the cost to make a 12” sign is $15 or a 15” sign  is $20. For non-residents or younger folks the cost is  $25 (12”) & $35 (15”). Space is limited and priority is for residents, especially those 55+. The choices of sign can be viewed on discussion page on the Facebook event.  This event is part of the “Year of Canada” Project and is partially funded by the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program. The Milton Community Hall is holding its annual meeting on Monday, January 30 at 7:00 p.m. (Storm date - Feb 6). All adult residents of Miltonvale Park are a part of the non-profit Milton Community Hall, Inc. and are invited to attend. If you are interested in being a director on the board – please contact miltoncommunityhall@gmail.com.

Former municipal councillor Lindsey Rhynes is the PEI representative for Raising the Roof and is organizing a fundraising event overnight at the Milton Community Hall on Tuesday, February 7. The fundraising will bring further supports for those experiencing/at-risk of experiencing homelessness, to PEI. The number of Islanders experiencing homelessness in our province is unfortunately only growing.  Her goal is to bring Raising the Roof's "Reside" program to PEI. Reside turns vacant properties/buildings into new affordable housing units for people experiencing/at-risk of experiencing homelessness, while using the construction as a vehicle to train and employ people with barriers to employment in the trades.

Some of the proceeds from this fundraiser will be going towards the youth homelessness prevention programs at the Boys and Girls Club in Charlottetown and Montague. This fundraiser will be happening in cities across the country on February 7th -Toque Tuesday. Lindsey is looking for guest speakers, sponsors, and participants. If people would like to help make a difference, donations to her campaign can be made here

New Year's Update -Soup Supper, Sask. Recipes, Fitness classes...

The Council office is closed for the holidays until Tuesday, January 3rd. If you need to get in touch, please reach out by email to admin@miltonvalepark.com as the phones may not be monitored regularly. The hall still has lots of Covid Rapid Test Kits, if anyone is in need. It doesn't look like anyone will be needing to borrow snowshoes before the office is open again, according to the weather forecast.

Coffee Club will resume on Friday, January 6.  The next Yoga classes will be on Tuesday, January 3rd – Mat at 9:00 a.m. and Chair Yoga at 10:30 $6 for Miltonvale Park residents and $7 for non-residents.

Thanks to all those who helped with the Milton Community Hall during the recent community turkey supper. We appreciated all the help getting the meals out 24 hours early due to the storm that was expected. The next Community Meal will take place on Thursday, January 5 and will be turkey vegetable soup, with an alternate choice of squash soup. Take-out suppers will be available from 5-5:45 p.m. while people will be able to eat-in at 6:00 p.m. Delivery can be available within Miltonvale Park, if necessary. There are 125 free meals available and preference will be given to Miltonvale Park residents. Please register and you can also sign up to help out there as well. The Milton Community Hall received funding from the Island Community Food Security Initiative to provide six free "community meals" to the people it serves, before the end of March, 2023. We will be using local foods where possible, and hope these meals can ease some of the stress families and individuals may be facing. The meals will be eat-in or can be taken out. The first meal will be a turkey dinner at the Milton Community Hall.  There are 125 free meals available and preference will be given to Miltonvale Park residents.
