Alex Corbett is hosting another event showcasing his talents in photography. On Saturday August 2nd at 6:30 p.m. the Photoshop Basics Class is a go!  This class will be happening at the Milton Community Hall. The class has a limit of 20 people so be sure to register early! Margie Carmichael and Lauren Thomson- 2014 Minutes of Story and Song

The Community of Miltonvale Park is pleased to present Margie Carmichael and Lauren Thompson in the Friday, July 18th show of their year-long series – 2014 Minutes of Story and Song. The performance starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Milton Community Hall and admission is $10. A light lunch is included. Born and raised in Elliotvale, PEI, Margie Carmichael is a musician, songwriter, playwright, comic, and storyteller. One of ten children born to John Carmichael and his wife Mary Murphy, Margie credits her parents with passing along to their children "a love of MUSIC and creative spirits". Margie's work is rich in local folklore and tradition. She has written over a hundred original songs. She has performed many of these herself, but her works have travelled with other artists across North America and the United Kingdom. Her writing extends to poetry, plays, and short stories. In 2006, she penned ‘And My Name Is . . . Stories From the Quilt’, a collection of short stories about ordinary women with extraordinary skills, gifts, and strengths. Lauren Thompson will be sharing some stories this show. Lauren Thomson is a graduate of Holland College’s Performing Arts and Dance Performance Programs. In 2012, she was a member of Confederation Center’s Young Company, Les Feux Follets. She has also appeared in productions of: A Christmas Carol, WIZARD of Oz, The Sound of Music, Back To The 80’s, My Son Pinocchio. This September she will be attending The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. Miltonvale Park – 2014 Minutes of Story and Song

Friday, June 6, 2014. 7:30 p.m.  2014 Minutes of Story and Song, featuring stores and recitations from Hon. Marion Reid and the music of PEI singer songwriter John MacAllar. Milton Community Hall. Admission is $10 and includes lunch. Funded in part by the PEI2014 Fund.

Storyteller Marion Reid and singer songwriter John MacAllar will be sharing the stage at the Milton Community Hall on Friday, June 6, 2014 for the sixth of a year-long series of shows comprising 2014 Minutes of Story and Song. Funded, in part, by the PEI 2014 Fund, these shows hosted by the Community of Miltonvale Park celebrate the Island and its musicians and stories.
Marion Reid, CM OPEI is a former Canadian politician, the first female Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, and was the first female Lieutenant Governor of PEI. She entered politics after more than 20 years of teaching. The mother of eight, Mrs. Reid is well known as an enthusiastic, active community worker who has a variety of interests and a practical streak a mile wide.
John MacAllar has been writing songs for most of his adult life.  The styles are varied from Rock, Pop, Country, Blues, Folk and the themes are personal, nostalgic, and reflective of experiences and perspectives of life from his childhood.  "Never Let Go of the Kid" teenage years "Times Have Changed" to the great Canadian pastime of hockey and it's parallels to life "On The Ice".  As a solo artist performing festivals John sings folk songs about P.E.I., of historical and maritime life as he sees it, from the demise of the P.E.I. railroad, the plight of the farmer, to dandelions in June.

This is part of the award winning PEI Mutual Festival of Small Halls. A Ham and Beef Take-Out Cold Plate Supper will be held at the Milton Community Hall (7 New Glasgow Road –Rte 224, North Milton) on Sunday, June 22. Cost - $12. The North Milton WI will host it's annual Strawberry Social at the Milton Community Hall on Tuesday, July 8 from 6-7:30 p.m.

The annual drawdown will be held on Saturday, August 23 at 7:30 at the hall. Tickets are $100 and winners will share $10,000 in prizes.
