Everything Old is New Again -Thursday March 6 -Quilts and Rugs

The Milton Community Hall is the site for the first of a series of three sessions on textile arts.
Many textile crafts on Prince Edward Island are experiencing a resurgence, with knitting needles heard clicking among young and old. The PEI Home Economics Association is holding several interactive educational session across the province in March to allow Islanders to learn more about the history of rug hooking, quilting, knitting and basket making. People can see how these arts have changed or evolved to the present day forms.
A session on quilting and rug hooking will take place at the Milton Community Hall on Thursday, March 6 at 7:00 p.m. with Roberta Giddings, and Shirlee Hogan and Heather Tweedy. (Storm date -Thursday March 13). Gillis Lodge in Belfast will host a session on rug hooking and knitting at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 10, again with the rug hookers from Pastimes and Heather Henry MacDonald. The Lot 16 Community Hall will be the site for rug hooking with Linda Marchbank and basket weaving with Debbie Millar and Nora Richard, at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25.
The sessions are open to everyone, and people are encouraged to bring along samples of their work to display. Admission is by donation, and a light lunch will be served.

Mondays and Fridays at 9:00-10:00 a.m. "Fitness for the 50+ Folks" . Drop in for exercise classes to improve balance and flexibility with certified instructor Angelie Carter. Cost $3 each or $5/week (subsidized by Council, New Horizons for Seniors and the Central Region Sport and Recreation Council). *Classes are cancelled if school is cancelled or delayed due to the weather.

Miltonvale Park Happenings - Winter 2014 at the Milton Community Hall

Monday Night Exercise -Angelie is available on Monday nights and is willing to provide a one hour exercise class at 7:00 p.m. – all ages, men and women, Cardio-strength traiining - bring a mat for cool down exercises, if you have one. Mondays and Fridays at 10:00 –“Coffee Club” – Drop in to share some coffee, treats and visit with neighbours. Admission by donation of coin or snacks! Everyone welcome.
Friday, February 21 -6:00 p.m. 1864 Supper – hosted by the North Milton WI – Join the WI as they celebrate WI Month and the 1864 Charlottetown Conference, with a supper reminiscent of 1864 (tentative menu – beef stew, biscuits, baked apples, gingersnaps). Learn what North Milton was like in 1864, see some historic costumes of the time and try your hand at a parlour game. Admission by donation –and please let us know by Wednesday Feb 19th, if you are coming, so we can set your place. Residents and friends of North Milton are most welcome. The Cornwall and Area Watershed Group has expanded to serve the North River watershed that includes Miltonvale Park…. BUT there is no representation from our area on their board. They meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. They are also looking for a secretary and president. If you are interested in becoming involved as they work in the area, or have a concern about the wellfield we will be hosting, contact them at cornwall_watershed@yahoo.ca or attend their monthly meeting Tuesday, February 11th, at 7:00pm - Cornwall Town Hall boardroom.

Hall Annual Meeting - Monday, January 20, 2014

All residents of Miltonvale Park are invited to attend the annnual meeting for the Milton Community Hall on Monday, January 20 at 7:30 p.m. The agenda includes reports, changes to the constitution (briefly to add one director to the board, and separate the position of secretary-treasurer into two positions.... and elections will take place for a new board. Hope to see you there!

The Milton Community Hall and Community of Miltonvale Park are hosting a series of "2014 Minutes of Story and Song" events to celebrate PEI's sesquicentennial -and the Avonlea Showband (Mike Pendergast, Leon Gallant, Remi Arsenault and Brendon Peters) will take to the stage Friday, January 3 at 7:30 for a great evening of entertainment. $10 admission includes a light lunch. Shows continue the first Friday of each month throughout 2014.
