STAN CAREW & JOHN CAMPBELLJOHN
About Stan:
Stan Carew has been the host of Weekend Mornings since 1997. He hopes it's the final stop on a radio road that started in 1968 at CHNS in Halifax. Stan joined CBC Saint John NB in 1979, then spent seven years as a CBC Radio network announcer in Toronto where he worked on local shows Metro Morning, Radio Noon and the Afternoon Show. He was also the host of the network shows The Entertainers and Prime Time and a late Sunday night show called Where Ears Meet.

As a musician, Stan has been a member of the long-running Halifax collective the Wolverines for 30 years. He's also played in bluegrass bands, and with some of his CBC colleagues in the BBQ Kings. He's currently performing with his band the Magpies at concert venues around the Maritimes and is planning to record and release an album later this year.

About John:
Many artists have their specialties – some cut great records but need support to realize their studio sounds in a live setting while others are born performers who never quite translate to records as well as they do live. Rarely do you find an artist who excels at both. John Campbelljohn does. In each of his many forms.

In his solo, acoustic blues performances he makes the most of the song. Campbelljohn soulfully commands the stage with rich vocals, while his powerfully prolific technique on guitar or trusty dobro lap steel further embellishes each composition. His power trio ups the ante with an electric sound that can pummel an audience into submission or captivate them with the subtleties of ace musicians driven solely by the love of their craft.
