Reminder that the Miltonvale Community Park is staffed in the summer and has a drop-in day program for school-age children of Miltonvale Park. We are sad to say good-bye to Nathalie who is planning a trip to Syria before university begins– Safe Travels! Kessie and Jason work 9-6 Monday-Friday and 11-4 on Saturdays, 12-4 on Sundays with a daily lunch break from 1:30 -2. The week of August 12 is tentatively Olympic Week. The new courts are playable, but the basketball court needs a line moved at some point. The Miltonvale Pickleball Group is planning to hold a tournament at the park on Sunday, Aug. 11.
And it is “See You Later” to Norm Birt who has been working at the Council Office since the spring. Norm’s work term is completed – but the hall has become his new home away from home – and he will now be able to take his new puppy Luke to the park during weekdays. He will be checking his raised bed in the community garden, and he hopes to volunteer to stain the deck rails, and he plans to come for coffee on Monday! Norm’s enthusiasm has been great to see! Thanks Norm!
Sunday, August 11 – Movie 6:30 -The Grand Seduction - The small harbor of Tickle Cove is in dire need of a doctor so that the town can land a contract to secure a factory which will save the town from financial ruin. Village resident Murray French (Gleeson) leads the search, and when he finds Dr. Paul Lewis (Kitsch) he employs - along with the whole town - tactics to seduce the doctor to stay permanently. Resourceful Home Owner Series – starts Monday, August 12 at 6:30-8 p.m. until late October at the Milton Community Hall. Learn skills essential for maintaining your home. The series is FREE for Miltonvale Park residents, and by donation of others. Register at MiltonMVPs@gmail.com
Youth (Grades 5-9) - Draw What You See Art classes on Wednesday evenings in August from 5:30-7:30, beginning August 14, 21, 28 & Sept. 4 with instructor Hank Bos, who will use water colours. All materials and supplies provided for these classes. Free for Miltonvale Park residents and $20 for four classes for youth who live elsewhere. Register with Peggy at MiltonMVPs@gmail.com.
Thursday, August 15 is the deadline for the Milton Community Hall’s next 50-50 draw! Tickets can be bought at the hall or send an e-transfer to miltoncommunityhall@gmail.com. Winner will be announced on August 16. Tickets are $3 or 2/$5. License #16921. Thanks to all for your support!

Tuesday, August 20 - The St. John’s Anglican Church will be holding their annual Blueberry Social at the Milton Community Hall from 5:00 to 6:30. The social will include a buffet of sandwiches and desserts and cost is Adults - $12.00 and under 12 - $6.00.
Armchair Travel - France – Wednesday, August 21 at 12 noon. No travel delays, lost luggage or expensive flights and hotels. Come learn about France from people who have travelled there. REGISTRATION OPEN! Seniors Bus Tour – Thursday, August 29 from 9-5. Join residents of Miltonvale Park on a seniors bus tour on Thursday, August 29, 2024, to the North Cape Interpretive Center, The Stompin' Tom Center (for lunch and music from 1-2) and Kool Breeze Garden Center for a visit and ice cream. Prices are $40 Miltonvale Park seniors (55+) and $50 for others UNLESS you wish to order dessert (Dessert of the Day) at lunch, in which case it is $5 more. The fee includes admissions, lunch, ice cream, snacks, and the bus ride. Pole Walking Club 1 –- Four week walking group - The 1st class will be held on Wednesday, September 11 from 10:30 am-12 pm, at the Milton Community Hall, with a 2nd class on Wednesday, September 18 from10:30 am-12 pm at the at Miltonvale Community Park. Currently there are no spaces left for non-residents, but spots are being held for residents for a few more days. FREE for residents 55+ - Line Dancing - Margot Postma will be leading a 6-week block of Line Dance classes starting Friday, September 13. Miltonvale Park residents have priority registration until August 16, and Miltonvale Park residents who are 55+ are FREE! Line Dancing shares many steps, counts, and styling found in other dance genres and is a super fun way to keep your body, mind, and heart healthy while having a great time!
Level 1 (Intro to Line Dancing): a great session for those new to line dancing with the focus on learning basic steps, patterns, beginner dances, and having a lot of fun!
Level 2: a great session for those who have completed Level 1, and want to build on the steps, patterns and dances they have learned. We'll have a lot of fun with the popular Tush Push line dance! Miltonvale Park in the Movies.
The regular Monday afternoon Line Dancing also returns on September 16.

Learn to Play Pickleball for Youth – Join us for FREE pickleball lessons. These lessons are open to youth ages 7 and up, and will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 - 10:30 a.m. at the Miltonvale Community Park, 413 Sleepy Hollow Road.
Yoga on the Mat with Leone Curtis - Tuesdays and Fridays 8 - 9 a.m. at the hall; $6 for Miltonvale Park residents, $7 for others (Drop-in)
Yoga on the Chair with Leone Curtis at the hall, Tuesdays and Fridays - 9:15 -10:15 a.m. at the hall, $6 for Miltonvale Park residents, $7 for others (Drop-in)
Zumba with Natalia – The schedule of Zumba fitness class in summer is every other Wednesday in July and August. Zumba takes place on August 21 from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. at the hall; $2 for residents, $5 for non-residents. Contact MiltonMVPs@gmail.com to sign up. Classes return to a weekly schedule in September.
Pickleball at the Park - Individual activity - any time, at the park - or join the group who plays there regularly on their scheduled times. There is a tournament scheduled at the park on Saturday, August 10.

Thursdays -The summer card parties (Auction) are every Thursday at 7:30. $4.
NOTES
Garden – The Community Garden across the road from the hall is producing! So far radish, lettuce, peas, zucchini, cucumbers and spinach have been available. When produce is picked, it is put in coolers at the community mailboxes at the hall and notification is put on Facebook, including the Miltonvale Park Residents private group. As the summer students will soon be finishing, if anyone is interested in helping harvest and weed the garden, please contact Shari at admin@miltonvalepark.com.
