Cynthia MacLeod and Gordon Belsher -Friday September 5

The Community of Miltonvale Park is pleased to present Cynthia MacLeod and Gordon Belsher in the Friday, September 5th show of their year-long series – 2014 Minutes of Story and Song. The performance starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Milton Community Hall and admission is $10. A light lunch is included.

Cynthia MacLeod is one of Prince Edward Island's finest ambassadors of traditional music, carving a distinct style of fiddling that embraces both her local roots and her ancestral connection to the Scottish highlands. Cynthia has spent more than 15 years on stages on PEI, across Canada, into the US, and as far abroad as Cuba and Japan, astounding audiences with her entertainingly unique performance style.

Cynthia's accomplished recording career began in 2002, with the release of her debut album "Head Over Heels" at the age of 16. The album received praise from audiences, peers and industry members, and was subsequently voted Album of the Year at the following Music PEI Awards. Since then, Cynthia has released a total of four studio albums, garnering regional awards and nominations along the way. Her cheerful, charismatic personality is exuded in her playing, and her natural way with audiences of any size turns strangers into instant fans. Together with the various musicians that she works with, Cynthia has proven that her own brand of traditional music is alive, invigorating, and sought around the globe.

Based in Prince Edward Island on Canada's east coast, Gordon Belsher has been entertaining audiences in Canada and around the world for more than 30 years performing at concerts, ceilidhs, conventions, and pubs. As accompanist and featured vocalist with Prince Edward Island fiddlers Richard Wood and Cynthia MacLeod, Gordon has toured extensively across Canada, in the U.S., the U.K., Europe, Japan and Australia. His solo CD Passed Presence, Past & Present won "Roots Traditional Recording of the Year" at the MUSIC PEI Awards in 2013.
