Voting continues for the PEI Rural Beautification Society’s Community Spirit - People’s Choice Award. $1000 is awarded to the Rural Municipality, and to the Town, which get the most votes… and folks can vote as many times daily as they wish! Please vote for Miltonvale Park - https://www.peirbs.ca/
Garden Produce - The Miltonvale Park Community Garden is growing well -and produce is available for Miltonvale Park residents or people in need, in a cooler by the mailboxes at the Milton Community Hall as it is harvested. If you would like to help pick, Ryan is usually in the gardens Monday, Tuesday, and Friday mornings, but pickers at other times are welcome - touch base with Ryan at gardenatMVP@gmail.com or text 902-218-8219 if you would like to help when he is not here. There is usually a photo uploaded on the Miltonvale Park Residents (private) Facebook page as the cooler gets filled. The produce on the upper half of the garden (closer to the Rustico Road) belongs to individual gardeners, while the lower portion is communal.

Plan to join us at 5 p.m. for corn on the cob, an inflatable obstacle course, (suitable for ages 2-99!), face painting, games, and line dancing with Margot at 6 p.m. at the Park at 413 Sleepy Hollow Road. Go!PEI are coming with some swag, and their mascot, Trax! Wednesday, August 27- 2025 Babysitter Certification Course, 8:45 a.m. - 3:15. As part of Milton Community Hall's Most Valuable People project, the 2025 Babysitter Certification Course by Kidproofpei will be hosted on Wednesday, August 27. The evening At Home Alone and First Aid Course has been CANCELLED. Funded in part by the PEI Alliance for Mental Well-Being. The Babysitter course costs $10 for Miltonvale Park residents and $35 for others (value is $53). Youth are asked to bring a nut-free lunch, water bottle, pen/pencil, and a doll if possible. Wednesday, Aug. 27 - The CAO is out of the municipal office after 2 p.m. for an appointment.
Friday, August 29 - The final day the Miltonvale Community Park is staffed. Thanks to Jason and Sadie for working at the park this summer. Zach will be back at the municipal office this fall as he completes another Co-op Work term with Miltonvale Park. Antoinette finishes her work term for the Association of Rural Community Halls, and Prince and Elesea’s work terms are also complete for the Milton Community Hall, although you will see Elesea around the hall for a few more weeks! Thanks to all the summer staff, including Ryan, who will still be around, overseeing the garden (and other duties as required!) for Miltonvale Park.
Saturday, August 30 -Monday, September 1, The Milton Community Hall and the Rural Municipality Office are closed for the Labour Day Weekend.
Sunday, August 31 - Deadline to buy tickets for the hall’s next 50-50 draw. $3 each or 2/$5 - at the hall or send an e-transfer to miltoncommunityhall@gmail.com. Congratulations to Allison MacDonald, who won $135.50 on the mid-August draw. There is a possibility the draw won’t be held until Tuesday, Sept. 2, due to the holiday.
NEW - Zumba returns! Wednesday late afternoon Zumba is back with Natalia at 5:30, beginning on September 3. $2 for Miltonvale Park residents and $5 for others. Drop in for a fun exercise! Funded in part by the PEI Alliance for Mental Well-Being.
DETAILS! Wednesday, September 3, Drum Circle at 7 pm. Join members of a weekly drum circle who will be meeting at the Milton Community Hall on Sept.3, to share information about the Mi’kmaq culture and language. All are welcome. Snacks provided. Free. Funded by the Government of Prince Edward Island. This drum circle was greatly enjoyed by those who attended others hosted before. Please RSVP to admin@Miltonvalepark.com.

These garden workshops with MacroMom Sarah Forrester teach you how to preserve your garden all year round. Each lesson will cover different produce and the ways to preserve it. With financial support from the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership, the Government of Prince Edward Island and the Government of Canada. Priority registration for Miltonvale Park residents, as spaces are very limited for this hands-on workshop.

Folks are welcome to come help harvest and work in the garden on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. (or at other times!) Priority for supper is Miltonvale Park residents (aged 55+).
Miltonvale Park's Chat and G.B.& T. (Growing Better Together) project, which is funded by the Government of Canada's New Horizons for Seniors Program, is hosting eight Seniors Supper Club meals at the Milton Community Hall before the end of March 2026. We are planning to feed about 40 seniors each meal, and for the September 12 meal are pleased to have entertainment by Halifax-based entertainer, Tony Quinn, following the supper. He promises old classics, Irish, Scottish, PEI, Cape Breton, Newfoundland, Broadway songs, and everything in between, in his show called "Tunes with Tony -Musical Memories."
The meals are eat-in or will be delivered to local shut-ins. The menu has not yet been decided. The 3rd meal will take place at the Milton Community Hall on Friday, September 12, at 6 p.m. The meal and entertainment are free for Miltonvale Park seniors and by donation for others, if space is available. Saturday, September 13 from 7-9 p.m. ROOTS AND RHYTHMS Concert by CTW - an evening dedicated to the timeless sounds of traditional country and roots music, on Saturday, September 13th, 7-9 pm at Milton Community Hall. Presented by the musical trio CTW, attendees can expect a variety of music, comedy, and a welcoming atmosphere.COST: $2 Miltonvale Park residents and $5 for others. Sunday, Sept 14 - 6:30 p.m. Small Town Pride Sunday Movie 6:30 p.m. - Small Town Pride offers an intimate look at the joys and challenges of being queer in a small town. Filmed in Alberta, Nova Scotia and the Northwest Territories, the film follows LGBTQ2S+ people and allies as they prepare for their local Pride celebrations. Organizing in church basements, classrooms and around kitchen tables, they take on a conservative town council that won't fly a rainbow flag and bend some rules to create a safe space for youth to come out. But despite experiences of isolation and discrimination, they love their communities and strive to make them places where everyone, no matter who and how they love, can live and thrive. Miltonvale Community Park - The school-age drop-in day program for Miltonvale Park residents ends on Friday, August 29 at 4 p.m. at the Miltonvale Community Park. They plan to be at the park Monday-Friday 9-6 until August 29th. There will be pickleball lessons for children on Mondays and Wednesdays at 9 a.m. Please call ahead before sending young children, in case park staff are absent due to illness. Radon – The municipality is participating in a campaign to happen in the fall of 2025, where we will have 100 radon detectors for residents to put in their homes for 100 days and then be sent off for results to be obtained (and emailed directly and confidentially back to residents). More information and registration details will follow – but if you want to be sure to get your name on the list, please email admin@miltonvalepark.com.
