Events - Nov. 2 - Craft Fair, Fitness, Food, Movies...

Events take place at the Milton Community Hall, 7 New Glasgow Road-Rte 224, North Milton, unless otherwise noted.

WEEKLY EVENTS

Monday and Friday Active Aging Fitness with KK classes– 9 – 10 a.m. at the Milton Community Hall, $6 (Drop-in). There is no class on Monday, Nov. 11.

Coffee Club – Mondays and Fridays at 10 a.m. Drop in to the Milton Community Hall for coffee, tea, snacks and conversation. Admission by donation of coin or treats! Everyone welcome. There is no coffee on Monday, Nov. 11.

Wednesday Seniors Fitness Classes with Michele at 9 a.m. Fee $6. Drop in!

Zumba with Natalia –Zumba fitness classes are weekly on Wednesdays from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. at the hall; $2 for residents, $5 for non-residents. Contact MiltonMVPs@gmail.com to sign up.

Sunday, Nov. 3 – Movie Night – The Book Thief – 6:30 - While subjected to the horrors of World War II Germany, young Liesel finds solace by stealing books and sharing them with others. Monday, November 4 – 6:30 p.m. Health Care Professionals PEI Food Presentation – Margaret Prouse will be demonstrating traditional PEI foods at an event specifically designed for PEI Health care workers. FREE for Health Care Professionals. There is still space, so others are welcome. Please pre-register to admin@miltonvalepark.com or 902-368-3090, as soon as possible. Funded by the Prince Edward Island Community Grant for the Retention of Health Care Professionals.

Square Dancing with Christine is back as a part of Most Valuable People project! 4 classes for one session from 3-4 pm on Tuesdays, until-Nov.12. Funded by PEI Alliance for Mental Well-Being, it's $2/class and priority booking for Miltonvale Park residents (Please provide your civic address), $5 per class for everyone else. Spaces are limited. NOTES:

The Municipal Office will be closed on Monday, November 11. There will be a Remembrance Day service at the cenotaph in Wheatley River at 11 a.m.

The municipality also has a draft Active Transportation Plan and hopes to get feedback from residents. If you would like an electronic copy of the document, in advance of a soon-to-be-held meeting to discuss it and possible projects, please email Shari at admin@miltonvalepark.com.

Garden – There are a few things still in the garden - beets, Swiss chard, herbs...  The lower half of the garden (furthest from Rte. 7) is for community use as most of the upper section has been planted for individual use. If you can help get the garden ready for winter- contact Shari at 902-368-3090 or admin@miltonvalepark.com. We are supposed to be reporting the amount of produce grown in the garden (for the funders)-so if you pick some… please keep track of the amounts and report to me!

Mosquitoes – Residents in the Crabbe Road area who have benefitted from the treatment this summer to control mosquitoes are asked to forward their $30 contribution towards the cost of the 2024 mosquito control to the Council Office. Rachel Sentner has been collecting or residents can e-transfer admin@miltonvalepark.com, or drop off their contribution. Council does pay for the cost of black fly control in the Loyalist Road and Crabbe Road areas.

CHANGE IN DEVELOPMENT OFFICE HOURS – Mirko Terrazas will now be working at the Council Office at the Milton Community Hall on TUESDAYS from 10-2. Other hours may be arranged by appointment. Email Mirko at develop@miltonvalepark.com or call the office at 902-368-3090.

The Miltonvale Community Park is no longer staffed, although we will be checking in on it regularly. If you are there and you feel it needs attention, please contact the Council office at 902-368-3090 or if the office is not open, call or text 902-213-0597.

Child Bursary -If parents/caregivers have registered your children who live in Miltonvale Park for extracurricular sports/arts/cultural classes or lessons, they could be eligible for a $75 rebate per child per year (April 1 -March 31). https://miltonvalepark.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/bursary-application2024.pdf

Local 4-Hers are also taking orders for the Provincial 4-H Fundraiser until Nov. 4 (PEI products – cheese, fudge, honey, jam and soap)– so if you know any 4-Hers, and want to support 4-H, more information is here: https://www.pei4h.ca/4hpeifundraiser
