Coffee – Visit neighbors each Monday and Friday from 10 -11 a.m. at the Milton Hall. Coffee, tea, and snacks are available by donation of coin or treats. Please drop in, no pre-registration is required. COFFEE IS CANCELLED ON FRIDAY, March 1 due to a downstairs’ rental and upstairs yoga.

Seniors Fitness Classes with Michele Gallant - at 9 a.m. on Mondays and Fridays. They focus on balance and flexibility and are lots of fun! Cost $6. If you need more info, please email admin@miltonvalepark.com. Class is cancelled if schools (Bluefield family) are cancelled or delayed for weather-related reasons.

Yoga with Leone – Tuesdays - 9 a.m. Building Blocks of Yoga (mat) & 10:30 a.m. Chair Yoga. $6 Miltonvale Park residents and $7 for others at the hall. FRIDAY yoga classes take place on the 2nd floor at the hall mat class at 9 a.m. and yoga from a chair class at 10:30. The Friday classes are also being supported by Central Region Sport and Recreation Council. Suggested donations are $6 for Miltonvale Park residents and $7 for others.  Class is cancelled if schools (Bluefield family) are cancelled or delayed for weather-related reasons.

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) meet at the Hall on Tuesdays at 6:15 p.m. For more information contact Joyce at 902-368-2055.

Weekly Wednesday Zumba Classes take place at 5:30. The cost for Miltonvale Park residents is $2/class and non-residents are $5. Space is limited, so please email  MiltonMVPs@gmail.com to get on the waiting list.

Lily Forsythe, a Registered Acupuncturist, will present small group Acupuncture Sessions on Mondays at 5:30, 5:45 and 6 p.m. Email MiltonMVPs@gmail.com to sign up for a time slot to try acupuncture. Free for Miltonvale Park residents and $5 for others. MiltonMVPs.

Do you like to sing? The Milton Hall hosts singers on Monday evenings from 7-8 p.m. for a casual and fun singing group. Class is full. Email MiltonMVPs@gmail.com to be on the waitlist.

Paper Quilling -The M.A.I Crafts will host two 2-hour Art Paper sessions at Milton Community Hall from 5-7 pm on Thursday, March 7 and Wednesday, March 13. After four hours of hands-on learning, you will take away not only the art paper skills, but also a piece of artwork in an 8 x 8 frame. The municipality is holding a FREE Seniors Health Fair on the afternoon of Friday, March 8 (likely starting at 1 p.m.). So far, we have confirmed a dental hygienist, pelvic floor physiotherapist (bladder incontinence, constipation, menopause, pelvic pain, frequent UTIs), Seniors Navigator, home economist (Tips for eating as we age) and a registered acupuncturist (self-care and preventative medicine based on traditional Chinese Medicine), and are finalizing details with a pharmacist and an exercise professional. NEW!! The Milton Community Hall will be offering three 2-hour acrylic painting classes in March on Fridays, March 15 & 22, 4-6 pm & Thursday, March 28, 6-8 pm. Beginners and advanced students welcome. Instructor Ann Clow, has been a professional artist for 48 years, Web site: annclow.com. The costs is for all three classes and supplies is $40 for Miltonvale Park residents, $75 for others (if space permits). NEW!! The Milton Most Valuable People Project and Kidproofpei will host three March Break Workshops at Milton Community Hall! "Safe Kids" for 5-7 years old, "Stranger Smarts" for 7-10 year old, and "At Home Alone + First Aid" for ages 10+ on Thursday, March 28.  

The courses are FREE for Miltonvale Park residents, and offered at half the regular price for others!  Miltonvale Park residents have priority in bookings. Safe Kids – 9 -10 a.m. Age 5-7. (Minimum 5 students) – A fun and entertaining way to learn about injury prevention and who to safely respond in an emergency. Takeaway – Safe Kids Workbook. Free for MVP residents, $15 for non-residents. (Reg price $35+tax)

Stranger Smarts – 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. – Age 7-10.  (Minimum 5 students). Learn to make safe choices when approached by seniors.  Takeaway – Strangers Smarts student book. Free for MVP residents, $20 for non-residents. (Reg price $35+tax)

At Home Alone + First Aid 1-5 p.m. Age 10+. Students learn to stay safe through interactive lessons, role play and hands on training. Help prepare our child for an emergency! Take Away – At Home Alone Plus student book, and wallet card. Free for MVP residents, $25 for non-residents. (Reg price $45+tax)

Book Club – We have several copies of Michelle Good’s book Five Little Indians and Blackouts to Bright Lights, Canadian War Bride Stories–If you would like to borrow one and join in on a discussion – please contact admin@miltonvalepark.com or 902-368-3090, and we will pick a time that works for the readers.

Community Garden – The Council will be establishing a Community Garden on land opposite the Milton Community Hall, which the family of the late Robert Hooper is generously letting the municipality use. If you are interested in being involved, please let the Council office know at admin@miltonvalepark.com or 902-368-3090. We have purchased a greenhouse, and are looking forward to the growing season! We are still working on details -and would love to get community members involved!

Air Fryer – We have an air fryer for Miltonvale Park seniors to borrow to try out. Please contact MiltonCommunityHall@gmail.com to borrow it for approximately a week, or call 902-566-3154.

The Municipality has 6 pairs of adult snow shoes available to lend out. Contact the Council Office if you would like to arrange to borrow them.

RESIDENTS ONLY -Miltonvale Park has a $75 bursary program per child per year to participate in extracurricular sports, arts, cultural groups/activities and events. Deadline for this fiscal year is March 31, 2024. https://miltonvalepark.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/bursary-application2020.pdf

MILTONVALE PARK RESIDENTS - Do you have a senior friend or neighbour who may not be connected to the internet and may be missing out on these emails? Please consider offering to print and deliver these notes to them, or make them aware they exist. Perhaps they have a relative who could be put on the email list to share information with them to ensure they are aware of local activities and opportunities. ALSO – we are aware that people with BellAliant and Sympatico emails may not be getting our recent emails -so if you have a friend, relative or neighbour, who might have one of these emails, can you please check in to see if they are in loop. This note is also posted on miltonvalepark.com and miltoncommunityhall.ca and on the hall and municipal Facebook pages.

The Milton Community Hall held their annual general meeting last week. The new board consists of President Rita Jackson, Vice President Joyce Blackett, Treasurer Phil Hooper, Secretary MacDonald, Past-President James Marjerrison, Directors Phil Jefferson, Betty Pryor and Max Jefferson, and Rose Ramsay, North Milton WI representative.  The board also has the ability to appoint two other members when they meet, and will likely do so, as there were four others who had expressed interest in joining the board -Thanks to all who put their names forward and to outgoing board members Ernie Coles and Hal Parker, who have devoted many hours to the hall for quite some time!
