Happenings -August 1

Events take place at the Milton Community Hall unless otherwise noted.

Coffee -Visit neighbors each Monday and Friday from 10 -11a.m. at the Milton Hall. Coffee, tea, and snacks are available by donation of coin or treats.

Yoga with Leone – Tuesdays 8:30 a.m. Building Blocks of Yoga & 10:00 a.m. Chair Yoga. $6 Miltonvale Park residents and $7 for others.

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly)  meets at the Hall on Tuesdays at 6:15. For more information contact Joyce at 902-368-2055.

There is no ukulele this week - it returns on August 15th.

Monday-Friday -July 31-Aug 4 – Miltonvale Community Park – It’s Sports Week at the Park at 413 Sleepy Hollow Road. Monday -Soccer, Tuesday -Baseball and softball, Wednesday -Disc Golf, Thursday -Croquet, Friday – Netball. School-aged children are welcome to drop in for activities from 9-4 Monday-Friday, EXCEPT – the staff have lunch from 12-12:30 and are not available to supervise children over their lunch break. Parents/caregivers should complete the registration form for their children before dropping them off.  Pre-school children require a parent/caregiver to be present.

Give them a follow to keep up to date on park news. Miltonvale Community Park A reminder – that most of the equipment available at the park can be used by anyone when you are there while the staff are available – (croquet, games, disk golf…) Welcome to Joshua Shokunbi who is joining Caroline and Ruth at the park this summer!

August 15 is the deadline to buy tickets for the next 50-50 twice-monthly draw. You can buy tickets at the hall-or send an e-transfer to miltoncommunityhall@gmail.com. $3 each or 2/$5.

PEI pickleball IPE's is hosting FREE Pickleball classes for youth on Mondays and Wednesday at 9-10:30 am for 7-13 year olds at the Miltonvale Community Park at 413 Sleepy Hollow Road. Bring sunscreen, a hat and water. Equipment is provided. The free program runs until August 9th. For more information contact Doris Dunphy at 902-892-3214 or peipickleballipe@gmail.com.

Card Parties - The hall hosts summer card parties (Auction) on Thursday evenings at 7:30 p.m.   $4.  

Last chanceThe Milton Community Hall will host dance classes on six Friday evenings, 7-8:30 p.m.  which started on July 21 (but there will not be one Aug. 18). Free for Miltonvale Park residents, and by donation for others. Milton Community Hall’s Most Valuable People Project (MVP) has been funded by the PEI Alliance for Mental Well-Being. RSVP to MiltonMVPs@gmail.com

Summer Senior Tea will take place on Thursday, August 10 at the Milton Community Hall at 3 p.m. Free for Miltonvale Park residents, 55+ and by donation for others. Please RSVP to miltoncommunityhall@gmail.com or 902-566-3154 by Monday, August 7. Funded by the PEI Seniors’ Secretariat.

Monday – August 14 at 6:30 p.m. – Family Bingo night. Admission is something valued at $5 per family that is suitable for a bingo prize. RSVP to MiltonMVPs@gmail.comFunded by the PEI Seniors’ Secretariat.

Electric Vehicle Presentation – Do you want to learn more about  Electric Vehicles including where to charge an EV; how far a charge will take the car; the overall cost of ownership, or whether going electric is correct for you?   Safe Driver PEI will be at the Milton Community Hall for an EV presentation and test-driving tour on Saturday, August 12 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. There are limited 30-minute test-driving spots. Milton MVPs Project -The next all ages dance party is Friday August 18, from 7-9 p.m. with DJ Margot Postma. The theme is undecided – between disco and country. Sign up or get more information from MiltonMVPs@gmail.com or 902-566-3154. Funded by the PEI Alliance for Mental Well-Being.

St. John's Anglican Church's annual Blueberry Social to be held at the Milton Community Hall (corner of Rte. 7 and 224), on Tuesday, August 22nd from 5:00 - 6:30 PM. Admission is $12.00 for adults and $6.00 for children under 12. Bring along family and/or friends and enjoy a delicious buffet of sandwiches and desserts. Take-outs are also available.

Wednesday, August 23 at 1 p.m. is the next PEI Through the Years Food presentation with home economist Margaret Prouse. Please RSVP to admin@miltonvalepark.com by Aug. 21.

Reserve Thursday, August 24 for Miltonvale Park’s next Seniors Bus tour, to Western PEI. Details to follow.
