WEEKLY Events:

Exercise class – Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays at 9 a.m. Michele Gallant leads seniors chair and balance class on Mondays and Wednesdays -Cost $6. Work out with others to an exercise class on the big screen on Friday. Cost – $1. No need to register – just drop in! Wed, Michele’s classes take a break for the holidays, with the final class of 2025 being Monday, Dec 15. There may be video classes later into December.

Coffee Club – Mondays and Fridays at 10 a.m. Open to all – Admission by donation of treats or coins. 

Monday Line Dancing (FULL) at 1:30  

Tuesdays - at 2 p.m. Square dancing classes. (Upstairs). For more information, contact Christine at cmr.belanger@outlook.com. 

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) meet at the Hall on Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m. For more information, contact Joyce at 902-368-2055. Meetings will be upstairs, until December 16, due to practices on the Main Floor for the Solstice Walk.

Wednesdays -Happy Dance with Sylvie 4 p.m. (until Dec. 17) and Zumba with Natalia  - 5:30 p.m. Free for Miltonvale Park residents, $5 for others. For more information contact MiltonMVPS@gmail.com. No classes Dec 24 and 31!

YOGA with Leone 

TUESDAYS  8:30 a.m. - Mat. and 10 a.m. -Chair  - cost $10 for Miltonvale Park residents,$12 for others (Drop-in) on Tuesdays.

Sunday Night Movies – Most Sunday evenings at 6:30. Free for Miltonvale Park residents and by donation for others. 

 

STILL SPACE!!! Dream catcher workshop -Thursday, December 11 at 9 a.m. at the Milton Community Hall. Join Indigenous artist Misti Myers, for a workshop to make a Dreamcatcher. Space is limited. The fee is $10 for Miltonvale Park residents aged 55+, and $20 for others. Funded in part by the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program. Register with admin@miltonvalepark.com or 902-368-3090. This workshop is valued at $55.

 

Reminder to those who have registered of the Seniors Community Supper at Milton Community Hall on Thursday - Dec. 11. Pick ups 5-5:50 or eat in at 6. The supper is full. Funded by the Province of PEI through the Seniors Community Meal Grant.

 

Free Music- Bryson Guptil will be providing entertainment at the Milton Community Hall from 7-8 p.m. (approx) on Thursday, Dec. 11. Everyone is welcome. NEW!! Sat. Dec. 13 at 3 p.m.- North River Fire Department Santa Tour! The North River Fire Department is doing their annual Santa Tour and will be visiting Milton Community Hall at 3 p.m. with their fire trucks. There will be cookies and snacks, along with some surprise festive visitors. They will visit CLow’s Store in Hampshire at 3:30. NEW - Sunday, December 14 at 6:30 p.m. - Sunday Movie - The Man Who Invented Christmas - This movie tells of the magical journey that led to the creation of Ebenezer Scrooge , Tiny Tim and other classic characters from A Christmas Carol. Directed by Bharat Nalluri, the film shows how Charles Dickens mixed real life inspirations with his vivid imagination to conjure up unforgettable characters and a timeless tale, forever changing the holiday season into the celebration we know today. FREE for Miltonvale Park Residents and by donation for others. 

Monday Dec. 15 is the deadline to buy tickets for the Milton Hall’s next 50-50 draw. $3 or 2/$5. You can buy tickets at the hall or send an etransfer to miltoncommunityhall@gmail.com. 

Tuesday, December 16  - Healthy Snacks -1 p.m. with home economist Margaret Prouse. Learn and taste some new recipes! Register at admin@miltonvalepark.com.  Free for Miltonvale Park seniors and by donation for others. Funded in part by the Government of Canada through the New Horizons for Seniors program. 

Thursday, December 18  - Christmas Traditions 10 a.m. Come learn, share, or celebrate Christmas traditions over snacks. Everyone is welcome. All newcomers to the area are welcome to come and share how they celebrate their traditions! Funded by the Government of Prince Edward Island. Free. We have confirmed panelists from Bolivia and China, and folks from Portugal and the Netherlands who are checking their schedules!  If you would like to formally share your traditions from another country or culture, (approx. 10 minute presentation), please contact miltonvalepark.staff@gmail.com, although, everyone will have an opportunity to briefly share their Christmas traditions, if they would like to. NEW - Wednesday from 1:00-3:00 pm January 7, 14, 21 and 28  - Zentangle Classes 1-3 p.m. Let's Tangle with Carol,  CZT 42 

Zentangle is a meditative practice, Carol refers to it as Yoga with a pen.

While the finished work appears complicated, once one learns the basics, it can become a relaxing, portable pastime.  It is available to anyone who can draw these simple letters/lines:  c i s o

This session is suitable for beginner and intermediate tanglers alike.

Join Carol for this inaugural 4 class session and watch your confidence soar.

Bring a notebook, an open mind and your sense of humour. Kits provided that include micron pens, pencil, blending stub, eraser, pencil sharpener, step out sheets and tiles of various sizes and content for tangling.You have got this!

Open Seat Mindful Meal, January 10 -Peggy has acquired funding for the Milton Community Hall, through ChangeX, funded by the Paramount Foundation, for an Open Seat Mindful Meal, tentatively scheduled for January 10, 2025. What is a mindful meal? Mindful Meals is a dinner event where participants are invited to engage in meaningful conversations about being mindful rather than reactive while navigating personal or communal challenges. The focus of these gatherings is not on the specific conditions that give rise to problems, nor on finding solutions for these problems, but on identifying and developing healthy mental responses. Tuesday, January 13 -Miltonvale Park Seniors Supper Club- Registration is not open yet. 

4-H Leader Nancy Hooper is spearheading a fundraiser for the Central 4-H region, making and selling cat and dog bandanas, with the help of 4-Hers, alumni and parents. There are still a few at the hall. Prices are a great bargain at $5. 

Miltonvale Community Park – The park is no longer staffed, but will be checked sporadically. If you are there and notice it needs attention, please contact admin@miltonvalepark.com, 902-368-3090 or 902-213-0597. The walking trail and parking lot have recently been paved. Please do not drive vehicles on the paved trail.

Miltonvale Park Child Bursary - Residents, are you signing your children up for activities, classes, and lessons? Residents are entitled to $75/child/year  (April 1- March 31)to reimburse costs of extracurricular activities.  https://miltonvalepark.com/for-residents/rebates-forms/

PLEASE NOTE: Furnace at Hall - The furnace at the hall is not working today, and a new control panel is needed, and one from Ontario should be here soon!. We will be using the heat pumps exclusively - except the one in the FCC Room is also broken, with a repairs scheduled for Dec. 16. Some areas of the hall may be cooler than usual, as we are relying on portable heaters (esp. the main washrooms,  Development Office, stairway, and FCC Room. Sorry for any inconvenience -but you may want to bring a sweater or wear warm socks!
