Miltonvale Park & Milton Community Hall – Events – November 6, 2023

Coffee – Visit neighbors each Monday and Friday from 10 -11 a.m. at the Milton Hall. Coffee, tea, and snacks are available by donation of coin or treats. There will be Coffee on Nov 13.

This series of classes for The Resourceful Homeowner will take place on Mondays from 7:00 -8:30 TONIGHT: Basic Electrical and Plumbing.  RSVP to MiltonMVPs@gmail.com.

Yoga with Leone – Tuesdays - 9 a.m. Building Blocks of Yoga (mat) & 10:30 a.m. Chair Yoga. $6 Miltonvale Park residents and $7 for others at the hall.  PLEASE NOTE: Mat yoga is cancelled for Tuesday, Nov. 7. 

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) meet at the Hall on Tuesdays at 6:15. For more information contact Joyce at 902-368-2055.

Weekly Wednesday Zumba Classes at take place at 5:30. The cost for Miltonvale Park residents is $2/class and non-residents are $5. Space is limited. Contact MiltonMVPs@gmail.com if you are interested.  No Zumba on Nov. 22.

Seniors Fitness Classes with Michele Gallant - at 9 a.m. and take place on Mondays and Fridays. They focus on balance and flexibility and are lots of fun! Cost $6. If you need more info, please email admin@miltonvalepark.com. There will be exercise on Nov. 13 (Civic holiday). Classes will break after the December 1 class until 2024.

Tonight is the first Music Theory class, upstairs at the hall. -Learn the 'why' of music and how music is put together? Marti Hopson, composer and music teacher, to find out more about the music building blocking including keys, scales, intervals and chords!   From 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Mondays, Nov 6, 13, 20, 27 at Milton Community Hall. Thursday, November 9, 2023 - For residents of the Miltonvale Park area

The Island Community Food Security Initiative is funding six community meals for residents and seniors in need before the end of March, 2024. We will be using local foods where possible, and hope these meals can ease some of the stress families and individuals may be facing during the winter. The meals will be eat-in or can be taken out. The 1st meal will be a Beef Stew Supper with dessert at the Milton Community Hall on Thursday, November 9.  Pick up will be from 5-5:45 p.m. with an eat-in option at 6 p.m. Deliveries can be available for those who need it within Miltonvale Park. There are 125 free meals available and preference will be given to Miltonvale Park residents. Thanks to funders: the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership, the Government of Prince Edward Island, and the Government of Canada.  If you have signed up already, you should receive a confirmation email today or tomorrow. Wednesday, November 15 at 7 p.m. is the next Council Meeting for the Rural Municipality of Miltonvale Park. Please RSVP to admin@miltonvalepark.com if you would like to attend.

Nov. 15 is the deadline to buy tickets for the next 50-50 twice-monthly draw. You can buy tickets at the hall-or send an e-transfer to miltoncommunityhall@gmail.com. $3 each or 2/$5. The winner of the Oct. 31 draw was Connie MacDonald who won $81.50. Thanks to all for your support!

The Milton Community Hall annual Christmas Craft Fair will be Saturday, Nov. 18, from 9- 3 p.m. Admission is $2 for those aged 13+. There will be door prizes and a canteen available. There are lots of Craft Fairs in the area that day -so find some fellow shoppers and plan to make a day of it! If you would like to volunteer on the day of the fair, please let Shari know at miltoncommunityhall@gmail.com .

Tuesday, November 21 is the next Foods of PEI cooking presentation with Margaret Prouse at 1:00 p.m. To sign up for this “PEI -Through the Years” project, please email admin@miltonvalepark.com. Free for Miltonvale Park residents aged 55+ and by donation for others.

Community Pot Luck Supper – Join neighbours for a FREE POTLUCK supper at Milton Community Hall on Wednesday, Nov. 22 at 6 p.m. The hall will provide some meat options. Thursday, Nov. 30 is tentatively the next Community Food Security Supper. Registration is not open yet.

Saturday December 16 is a Christmas afternoon Tea with music by Michael Pendergast. More details to follow. This is a Milton Hall Seasonal Seniors event.

Huge congratulations to all those involved in the very successful Milton Community Players show this past weekend Some Neighbours -Yesterday Once MoreThe Quintessential Sesquicentennial Review. Special thanks to Phil Hooper for all this hard work - although the entire cast, crew and volunteers were awesome! There were lots of laughs, great biscuits and tasty fudge from the WI. Don’t despair if you couldn’t get tickets. The show was videotaped, and there will be a movie version shown when it is edited.

Air Fryer – We now have an air fryer for senior residents of Miltonvale Park to borrow to try out. Perhaps you are thinking about buying one for Christmas and want to see if someone would use it. Please contact MiltonCommunityHall@gmail.com to get your name on the waiting list to borrow it for approximately a week, or call 902-566-3154.

This Guide will also be made available in French in the near future.  Hard copies of the Seniors Guide (in both English and French) can be requested by contacting the Seniors Navigator (902-213-5820; seniors@gov.pe.ca) or the Seniors Policy Advisor (902-620-3785; seniors@gov.pe.ca). When requesting, please identify how many copies you would like, as well as the mailing address they are to be sent to.
