DEADLINE EXTENDED – Volunteer of the Year Award Nomination Deadline extended to Friday, June 10, 2022.
June 15 is the hall’s next 50-50 twice-monthly draw. You can buy tickets at the hall -or send an e-transfer to miltoncommunityhall@gmail.com. $3 each or 2/$5. Congratulations to Reta MacDonald who won $105 on the May 15th draw and $75.50 on May 31!
ParticipACTION – Community Better Challenge will take place all through June -Miltonvale Park will be competing again this year in the Community Better Challenge. Download the ParticipACTION app and sign up to participate in the virtual walk to Milton, Louisiana and the Walk More than the Mayor contest (MiltonvaleParkEngage@gmail.com or 902-368-3090), and participate in the various activities. Miltonvale Park is currently in 2nd place on PEI! First prize on PEI is $15,000 -so we are asking residents and friends to please register with Luke and send in your steps or active minutes to be counted towards our totals (Every little bit helps!) You can easily send along your minutes or steps through the survey on the home page of miltonvalepark.com - and you can use the ParticipACTION app to also track other events, such as gardening.
Card Parties - The hall is holding summer card parties (Auction) on Thursday evenings at 7:30 p.m. until the end of September. Admission -$4.
Learn to Line Dance -As part of the Miltonvale Park Year of Canada project – there will be BEGINNER line dancing lessons with Margot Postma on Mondays – June 6, 13, 20 and 27 from 7- 8 p.m. at the Milton Community Hall. Free for Miltonvale Park residents aged 55+ and $10 for the series for others. Space is limited. Pre-register at admin@miltonvalepark.com or 902-368-3090.
NEW - Community Walks – Meet Luke at the parking lot by the Confederation Trail on the North York River Road for a walk along the Confederation Trail at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 8; Friday, June 17; Monday, June 20 and Thursday, June 30. ParticipACTION (Great activity for the folks who are missing exercise classes!).

The PEI Mutual Festival of Small Halls returns to the Milton Community Hall on Saturday evening, June 18 with its show – A Milton Mixer. Tickets are $30. It’s Juno award-winners on stage in Milton with the commanding vocals of Dene singer/songwriter Leela Gilday, joined by brother Jay Gilday, together as ‘Sechile Sedare’, along with the toe-tapping trad of string quartet The Fretless. Whimsical Kent-born folk singer/songwriter Lucy Farrell joins as special guest. The hall has tickets or they can be purchased online through smallhalls.com.
NEW -Tuesday, June 21 at 2:00 p.m. Join Whitney Kelly-Clark from efficiencyPEI for hints on improving the efficiency of your house and saving money. Whitney will also share information on the rebate and free programs available through efficiencyPEI. This presentation is part of the Year of Canada Project as June celebrates Alberta, which is an energy producing province. Funded in part by the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program.

Canada Day – at the Miltonvale Community Park 11:30-2:30 BBQ (starts at 12), music, games, O Canada, bouncy castle. Rain location -Milton Community Hall. Everyone welcome.
NEW Canada Day Tree Giveaway – The Cornwall and Area Watershed Group (CAWG) will hold a Tree Giveaway with one-gallon three-year-old native shrubs, and trees as well as small seedlings of Oak, Spruce, and Pine native to PEI. There is a limit of five trees per household. The native trees include yellow birch, hemlock, white ash, white spruce, white birch, and red maple. The native shrubs include butterfly bush, purple chokeberry, and red osier dogwood. CAWG staff will be available on Canada Day to share information about what trees might do best on your property and how to properly plant them. If you bought a rain barrel through the CAWG’s rain barrel fundraiser, be sure to submit the rebate form (online at miltonvalepark.com) to get your $25 rebate.
Jubilee Teas -The Milton Community Hall received funding from the Department of Canadian Heritage and is planning to ld three Platinum Jubilee Teas on Monday July 25 at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, August 7 at 2:00 p.m. and Saturday, September 17 at 2:00 p.m.. We are still working on details – but if you are a royal fan, and would like to be involved with a display, photos or information you may have acquired to help us celebrate the Queen’s 70 years on the throne, please contact miltoncommunityhall@gmail.com.
NEW - There will not be a planning board meeting scheduled for this month, but the next Council meeting will be Wednesday, June 15 at 7:30 p.m.
