November 1 Updates

Reminders and events:

Municipal Election! Voting takes place at the advance poll at the Milton Community Hall on Saturday, Nov. 5th from 9 a.m. -1 p.m. and at the Election Poll -Monday, Nov. 7th from 9 a.m.- 7 p.m.

Mayor Hal Parker was elected by acclamation, but eligible voters (Canadian, 18, lived in PEI for 6 months and living in Miltonvale Park on November 7, 2022) can vote for up to SIX of the following eight councillors:
CURTIS, Sheila
DOUCETTE, Joseph “Leo”
FRIZZELL, Andrew
MACDONALD, Spencer
MACDONALD-VAIL, Denise
POOLE, Paul
RAMSAY, Rosemarie
TAYLOR, Jamie

Electors must bring identification (ID) or documents with their name and address to vote. Electors can bring one piece of government ID with their name and address, (PEI driver’s license, PEI Voluntary ID card, or any other government card with your photo, name, and current address) OR two pieces of ID or documents with their name on both and address on at least one.

Seniors Navigator Melanie Melanson shared lots of info when she was here last week. Many folks were interested in the Seniors Independence Initiative, which provides financial assistance for shovelling, meal prep, transportation, etc. for low-income seniors.

Halloween -We have several treat bags left from the drive through on Saturday. If your child missed getting out to trick or treat – please let me know and I can set a treat bag aside for you.

And I am happy to welcome Joy MacIntyre back to help out at the office for the net few months.

Events Calendar
Events held at Milton Community Hall unless noted.

Exercise classes have resumed on Mondays and Fridays at 9 a.m. with Michele Gallant. The focus is on balance and flexibility. The cost is $5. Drop in. No class on Monday, Nov, 7 or Fri. Nov 11.

Coffee -Visit neighbors each Monday and Friday from 10 -11a.m. at the Milton Hall. Coffee, tea, and snacks are available by donation of coin or treats. No coffee on Monday, November 7 or Fri. Nov. 11.

Yoga with Leone – Tuesdays ($6 for Miltonvale Park residents and $7- 8:30 a.m. Building Blocks of Yoga (on the mat) & at 10 a.m. Yoga using a Chair. FIRST CLASS FREE for Miltonvale Park Residents – send admin@miltonvalepark.com a note if you are planning to come for your free class.

TOPS meets at the Milton Community Hall on Tuesdays at 6:15. For more information contact Joyce at 902-368-2055.

November is 4-H month and tomorrow is Show Your 4-H Colours Day -Tonight is the last chance to join the Wheatley River 4-H Club as they meet at the Milton Hall at 6:30 – and tomorrow is the deadline to order through their annual fundraiser (ADL cheese, jam, fudge, honey, soap) -If you have a 4-Her in your life!

IMPORTANT– Public meeting to help create an Active Transportation Plan for Miltonvale Park. Thursday, November 3 at 7:00 p.m. How can the municipality encourage and make walking, cycling and other forms of “human-powered” transportation (such as in-line skating, kick scootering, skateboarding, running, cross-country skiing, canoeing, and kayaking) safer. Everyone is welcome to attend. Please RSVP to admin@miltonvalepark.com If you would like to attend by Zoom, that can likely be arranged.

NEW - Tuesday, November 8. – Deadline for the tender for the Addition and Elevator to the Milton Community Hall.

Milton Community Hall Christmas Craft Fair – Friday November 11 – 2:30 p.m.- 8 p.m. and Saturday, November 12 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. $3 admission includes door prize tickets. There will be a canteen as well. More details including a list of vendors is on the Facebook page.  Milton Hall Christmas Craft Fair. Please share the event if you are active on social media.

Nov 15 is the hall’s next 50-50 twice-monthly draw. You can buy tickets at the hall -or send an e-transfer to miltoncommunityhall@gmail.com. $3 each or 2/$5. Congratulations to Lorraine Garneau who won $75 in the Oct 31 draw.

NEW -Sunday, November 13 – more details to be announced -FREE Platinum Jubilee Concert to celebrate the 70 years that Queen Elizabeth II Reigned. Music from the past 70 years. (Think it will be in the afternoon)

Thursday, November 17, 12 noon Scrapbooking your Family History Lunch and Learn. RSVP by Tuesday, Nov. 15 and Thursday, Nov. 24 Hands on Scrapbooking activity at 1 p.m.

Card Parties - The hall is planning Thursday card parties (Auction) at 7:30 p.m. on November 17 and Nov. 24. Admission -$4.
