The Miltonvale Community Park is no longer staffed, although we will be checking in on it regularly. If you are there and you feel it needs attention, please contact the Council office at 902-368-3090 or if the office is not open, call or text 902-213-0597.

WEEKLY EVENTS

Monday and Friday Active Aging Fitness with KK classes return MONDAY, Sept. 16 – 9 – 10 a.m. at the Milton Community Hall, $6 (Drop-in). 

Coffee Club – Mondays and Fridays at 10 a.m. Drop in to the Milton Community Hall for coffee, tea, snacks and conversation. Admission by donation of coin or treats! Everyone welcome

Yoga on the Mat with Leone Curtis – Tuesdays and Fridays 8 – 9 a.m. at the hall; $6 for Miltonvale Park residents, $7 for others (Drop-in).

Zumba with Natalia –Zumba fitness classes are weekly on Wednesdays from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. at the hall; $2 for residents, $5 for non-residents. Contact MiltonMVPs@gmail.com to sign up.

NEW - Saturday, Sept. 14 -HEY SINGERS! UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY! Members of the public are invited to join the members of Island A Cappella, PEI's only women's barbershop chorus, for a special 75-minute Musicality Masterclass with professional director, singing coach and musicality judge Adele Merritt on Saturday, September 14th from 1:00 - 2:15 pm at the Milton Community Hall. It's guaranteed to be a fun and exciting 75 minutes filled with on-the-spot coaching for the chorus and lots of singing as Adele will teach all attendees a short, four-part a cappella music "tag." This is a wonderful way to sample the joy of ensemble singing in a fast & friendly format! Sunday Night Movie -Sept. 15.  – Free for Miltonvale Park residents and by donation for others.  Going in Style - Three seniors, who have been wronged by the company they worked for thirty years and are living social security check to check, decide they have had enough. So, they plan to rob the bank that is taking their pension money. Joe Harding (Sir Michael Caine), a man who lives with his daughter and granddaughter, with whom he has a strong relationship with, but is having troubles with his mortgage. Willy Davis (Morgan Freeman), lives very far away from the only family he has, but needs desperate kidney surgery. Albert Gardner (Alan Arkin), a grumpy old man who a long time ago used to play the saxophone and is constantly flirting with the grandmother of his student. Car Rally – Saturday 10:30 a.m., Sept 21. We are planning a fun car rally to get to know Miltonvale Park for the Miltonvale Park in the Movies seniors project – but it would include all ages. Minimum two people on a team, every team needs to have at least one Miltonvale Park resident, bonus points if they are over 55! Organized by Clean Foundation, in collaboration with the PEI Emergency Measures Organization and the PEI Public Safety Division, these workshops will offer Islanders practical guidance on preparing, navigating and coping with extreme weather emergencies. Funded by the PEI Alliance for Mental Well-being, these sessions will provide Island residents with essential information and skills to help them in preparing for emergency weather scenarios.  Topics - Household Emergency Preparedness: Tips on preparing for extreme weather events like hurricanes, floods and power outages. Presented by PEI Emergency Measures Organization (EMO), offered during all five workshops.  Mental Health Resilience: Strategies for preparing and caring for your household and your community’s mental well-being during crisis. Presented by Clean Foundation, facilitated by Corrine Hendricken-Eldershaw, Canadian Certified Counsellor and Counselling Therapist. MORE DETAILS - Information Session on Arthritis with Michelle from the Arthritis Society of Canada  – Thurs. 2 p.m., Sept. 26. Understanding Arthritis will provide viewers with an overview of arthritis and strategies to help manage arthritis symptoms. This presentation has a focus on boosting arthritis knowledge and equipping viewers with tools help to fight the fire caused by arthritis. This presentation will cover an overview of arthritis, pain management, physical activity and exercise. This will be presented on the big screen over Zoom, so you can attend in person, or online. NEW - CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAIR - Information and the registration form are at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MiltonFair24 . We will accept registrations for about a week - and then hope to send out confirmations within 2 weeks. The fair will definitely be on Sat. Nov. 9, but we are also considering also having it on Sunday, Nov. 10, depending on response from crafters and our wonderful volunteers!

Garden – The Community Garden across the road from the hall is producing! So far radish, lettuce, peas, zucchini, cucumbers, beans, tomatoes, corn and spinach have been available. When produce is picked, it is put in coolers at the community mailboxes at the hall (and often at Meadowvale Community in Sleepy Hollow for folks in that area) and notification is put on Facebook, including the Miltonvale Park Residents private group. If anyone is interested in helping harvest and weed the garden, please contact Shari at admin@miltonvalepark.com. The lower half of the garden (furthest from Rte. 7) is for community use as most of the upper section has been planted for individual use. If you can help - contact Shari at 902-368-3090 or admin@miltonvalepark.com. Also – We are supposed to be reporting the amount of produce grown in the garden (for the funders)-so if you pick some… please keep track of the amounts and report to me!
