STUDENT SUMMER JOB OPPORTUNITY
Hall Summer Manager –Milton Community Hall
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
• To organize manuals for policy and information such as maintenance, cleaning, volunteering and rentals for the newly renovated Milton Community Hall.
• To become familiar with the hall and document its operations.
• To book, organize and promote activities, assist with set up and clean up.
• To assist with volunteer recruitment and clerical support of the hall, such as minute-taking and assisting with financial accounting.
• To maintain and update the hall’s social media presence – Twitter, Facebook and website, and write press releases and distribute PSAs.
• To be responsible for light maintenance and cleaning, and assist with landscaping.
• To help with existing events such as socials, Festival of Small Halls, and card parties, and help with any new events to be held – such as flea markets, possible ice cream sales and the establishment of a community based free lending library.
• Other duties may be added to enhance the activities at the community hall.
• To assist seniors with computer literacy, and will also assist with many community events, including the PEI 2014 Story and Song series.
This program is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program – therefore certain requirements must be met. Eligible student participants must:
• be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of the employment;
• have been registered as a full-time student during the preceding academic year;
• intend to return to school on a full-time basis during the next academic year;
• be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act*;
• be legally entitled to work according to relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations;
• not be working 30 hours or more per week at another job.
